The Hamilton Wildcats women’s+ team gave their all in the Grand Final but came up short against a strong Ottawa Swans side, going down 13.11.89 to 0.2.2. While the result didn’t go our way, reaching the Grand Final 5 years in a row is an incredible achievement and a reflection of the dedication, resilience, and talent within this group.
Best on Ground honors went to Krysta Geloso, who stood tall in defense and worked tirelessly all game.
A huge thank you goes out to all our players for their hard work this season, as well as our coaches, volunteers, and supporters who make everything we do possible. Your energy, time, and passion keep the Wildcats moving forward, both on and off the field.
This year also brought plenty to celebrate:
Milestones: Krysta (50 games), Lise (75 games), Jeff (50 games), Abbey (25 games), and Jimi (50 goals).
All-Ontario Selections:
Women: Lise (Deputy Vice-Captain), Krysta, Abbey, Sarah, Ahink, and Jaclyn.
Men: Tex, and Ocho.
Awards & Recognition: Sarah was named AFLO Rookie of the Year, while multiple Wildcats earned strong Best & Fairest votes across the league.
Rookies: We welcomed a fantastic group of first-year Wildcats — Sarah, Kaira, Rian, Jordan, Ben, Owen, Brooke, Shea, Gabby, Brian, and Michael. All of whom made an impact on and off the field.
This marks the end of our AFLO season, but the Wildcats aren’t done yet. The Club Championship Men’s Competition is up next on October 4th & 5th at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, where our men will take on teams from across Canada.
Stay tuned to our Instagram and Facebook for updates during the off-season, highlights, and a few ways to reconnect with some familiar Wildcats faces. If you’d like to get in touch in the meantime, feel free to email us or message us on social media. We’d love to hear from you!
Thanks again for being part of a great year. We can’t wait to see you back in Yellow and Black next season!
